HURRICANE RIDGE ENGAGEMENT | LAURA & BRIAN

Laura and Brian are two of the most adventurous, outdoorsy people I’ve ever met. In listening to their stories and how much they love to partake in skiing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and any other outdoor activity you can think of, it made total sense why they would both have wanted to relocate to Washington from other parts of the country. They love it here and were so excited to welcome their family and friends to this amazing place they discovered together for their wedding in Roche Harbor in the San Juan Islands later this summer. Because they knew that they were going to be surrounded by the Puget Sound on their wedding day, they really wanted their engagement session to capture the other side of Washington that the love most: the mountains. So, adventuring up Hurricane Ridge seemed like the perfect place to go for their photos, and boy was it ever!

This particular July day was absolutely stunning up in the Olympic Mountains. Typical summer weather in the PNW: not too hot, with a light dusting of snow on the tallest peaks still remaining from winter, and sweeping views in every direction. Several deer joined us on our adventure around the Ridge, several of which make an appearance below in some of the photos. One in particular even decided to relieve himself right behind Brian & Laura while they posed, and made for a pretty epic “photo bomb” if I do say so myself. I love when unexpected moments like that happen during sessions because they never fail to result in the most sincere reactions and facial expressions. I’ll take it!

The two lovebirds opted for several outfit changes, which I absolutely love because it added so much variety to their session. They wanted to end with their “outdoorsy” outfits because they really wanted to show who they were and what better way to do that then to dress like you would normally most of the time. The pulled out super cute beanies and warm jackets and cuddled up at the end to top off an incredible evening in an incredible location.
