Deception Pass Engagement | Leslie & Alex
“A large drop of sun lingered on the horizon and then dripped over and was gone, and the sky was brilliant over the spot where it had gone, and a torn cloud, like a bloody rag, hung over the spot of its going. And dusk crept over the sky from the eastern horizon, and darkness crept over the land from the east.” ~ John Steinbeck
Whidbey Island and Deception Pass are on the list of iconic Washington locations that any visitor must see in person. The island itself is huge and sometimes doesn’t even feel like an island since it can be accessed via the well known bridge. I’ve been visiting the island since I was much younger as my dad spent many years as a Navy Reserve pilot stationed at NAS Whidbey. I remember watching bald eagles soar along the waterfront and planes taking off and landing. We’d stop at Snow Goose Produce on the way back for a fresh made waffle cone filled sky high with delectable ice cream. Oh man, good memories.
This particular evening with Alex and Leslie proved to be especially epic. We explored the north end of the bridge from Lighthouse Point, which offered an amazing view of the entire bridge and also of the amazing PNW sunset. Vibrant pinks, yellows and oranges bounced across the sky and the colors kept getting better by the minute. The wind kept us on our toes as well, creating some extra crazy hairdos, lol. I love the photos that we created on this epic evening and I had a blast with these two lovebirds. They are getting ready to move into their new home (it’s being built right now!) in a few short months and couldn’t be happier or more in love with each other.
